The UCSB Brain Imaging Center was formally established in January of 2004. The initial director is Professor Gregory Ashby. Groundbreaking for the building that will house the center (i.e., the new addition to the Psychology Building) occured on March 1, 2004. As part of these ceremonies, Michael Posner, an international leader in the field of cognitive neuroscience, presented a public lecture. As of January 2005, construction on the building is well underway and completion is projected for November 2005.
